L’essentiel à retenir

Le prétérit exprime une action terminée dans le passé, souvent avec un marqueur de temps : yesterday, last week, two years ago, in 2020.
Verbes réguliers : base + -ed (play → played). Verbe en -e : like → liked. Consonne + y : study → studied. Doublement : stop → stopped.
Verbes irréguliers à apprendre : go → went, see → saw, have → had, buy → bought, take → took, eat → ate…
Négation : didn’t + base verbale. Question : Did + sujet + base verbale. La forme est la même à toutes les personnes.

Négation et question

Pour s’entraîner

Pour chaque phrase, écris la forme négative puis la question : a) She called her friend. b) They went to Scotland.

a) She didn’t call her friend. — Did she call her friend?

b) They didn’t go to Scotland. — Did they go to Scotland?

Après did ou didn’t, le verbe est toujours à la base verbale (didn’t went est faux).

À partir de ces notes, écris un court récit au prétérit (5 phrases) : samedi matin – aller au marché avec maman – acheter des fruits – l’après-midi, jouer au basket – dimanche, ne pas sortir – regarder un film.
